Councilor Irvin Brown Created a Mess for our Public Safety Professionals

Irvin Brown voted a convicted aggravated murderer on both the Community Police Review Board and the Civil Service Board, damaging the city’s credibility with its police and fire professionals.

Your Salem City Councilor created a credibility crisis with our Salem Police and Fire professionals by voting to appoint a convicted aggravated murderer to both the Community Police Review Board, a body meant to build public trust in law enforcement accountability, and the Civil Service Commission, which governs how fire service (and in some cases police) employees are hired, promoted, disciplined, or removed.  Members of the Board have quasi-judicial authority over personnel decisions related to our fire and public safety professionals.  This was done over the objections of local prosecutors and our public safety professionals.
